Elderberry Acai Smoothie Bowl

If you are looking for an antioxidant one two punch- this is the perfect treat for you. I combined two of the worlds highest antioxidant rich foods together for this incredibly delicious nice cream smoothie bowl. And why are antioxidants so good for you? Antioxidants are said to help neutralize free radicals in our bodies, and this is thought to boost overall health. Elderberries have the highest concentration of a type of antioxidant called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are the pigments that give red, purple, and blue plants their rich coloring. In addition to acting as antioxidants and fighting free radicals, anthocyanins may offer anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-cancer benefits. You can see why we are so obsessed with Elderberries 💜Açaí berries are also high in anthocyanins hence the dark purple color and are highest in flavonols (mainly catechins) as well as ferulic and chlorogenic acids. These have benefits for your brain, heart and overall health. Açaí berries also deliver healthy fats and fiber, making them a great additional to your overall diet. 

This recipe is very simple and only requires a handful of ingredients. You can have enjoy the smoothie for a nutritious breakfast, a mid-day snack or even a healthful dessert 😊


1 packet Frozen Açaí Puree

2 medium Frozen Bananas

2 tablespoons Göod Berry Co. Elderberry Syrup

2-4 Tablespoons milk (we used coconut milk)

In a blender or food processor, blend bananas and açaí puree until it resembles course sand. Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed to full breakdown frozen fruit. Add the elderberry syrup and blend together. Then add the milk 1 tablespoon at a time until your nice cream comes together in a thick ice cream like consistency. Spoon into your desired bowl, top with fresh fruit, granola, chocolate or whatever you have on hand. We topped out smoothie bowl with starfruit, dragon fruit, bee pollen and chocolate. Enjoy!
